Dixie Belle Paint Saves the Day

Sometimes creativity is a process.  This proved true when on this Shabby Wednesday things did not go as planned.  Today's project was to make two bedside lamps using old shutters, a cute idea found on Pinterest.  It looked simple enough so I purchased the supplies needed and headed off to the "Pig".

The shutters were a yard sale steal at $5 for the pair.  Sure, they're green but I plan to paint them.
I went to Lowe's (by myself, no date night) and found wall mounted lights that suited the style and look I was going for.  Once again, the price is right- $11.98 each.  Throw in some spray paint, electrical cords and on/off switches and we are good to go.

Step 1 was painting the shutters.

Let me just say now, this is NOT the look I was after.  This is where Dixie Belle saves the day.

In case you are not aware, The Shabby Pig is a distributor for Dixie Belle Paint.
This chalk paint can easily be applied on just about anything you have that you want to be a different color.  No sanding, priming, it's that easy.  And looks great every time.

So... I went to the paint shelf and scanned the many color choices available and decided on Yankee Blue.
So much better!

Step 2- select placement and prepare for mounting the light.

Step 3- wire light to plug-in cord according to manufacturer's instructions.

The finished product turned out GREAT.  Total cost, including the bulbs and taxes was $39.34.  Not bad at all.

Did I mention that I LOVE my
Shabby Wednesdays?!?!!
